Almost Home launch collaboration with Admiral Sports inspired by iconic 1975 Coventry City kits.
Almost Home has released a new collection influenced by Coventry City’s iconic football kits from 1975. The collection was created in collaboration with heritage sports brand Admiral, the sportswear company that designed and manufactured Coventry’s kit and pioneered the replica football shirt industry that is now commonplace. The Almost Home x Admiral collaboration draws inspiration from Admiral’s iconic Coventry City kits from 1975 – the sky-blue home kit and the controversial brown away kit - which received critical acclaim for these kits, and, to this day, remain noteworthy in football history.
London-based brand Almost Home emphasises quality over fast fashion, creating essentials like white t-shirts and signature seasonal pieces. The brand ethos is to ‘buy good things and own them a long time’, which underscores its commitment to durability and a timeless style.
This collaboration represents a fusion of historic British sportswear and contemporary fashion stirred by London’s dynamic culture. This collection is named ‘The Man in the Arena’ after former US President Theodore Roosevelt’s infamous speech in which he eloquently describes the attitude required to achieve something revolutionary. It honours Admiral’s trailblazing spirit when designing the famous Coventry City kits of the 1970s.
Much like Almost Home’s ethos, Roosevelt’s speech, first delivered in 1910, has stood the test of time – it helped inspire South Africa’s Rugby World Cup win in 1995 when Nelson Mandela gave a copy to Springboks captain Francois Pienaar, and more recently, it was shared by Jude Bellingham on his Instagram following England’s defeat at Euro 2024. Almost Home sought to honour Admiral’s innovative spirit by incorporating the iconic brown hues into the new collection. The collaborative line features tracksuits, shorts, jackets, pullovers, and knitted cotton polos, blending classic football aesthetics with modern style.
Founded in 2019 by model Diego Barrueco and designer Luke Murphy, Almost Home is a London based clothing brand inspired by London’s vibrant yet fast-paced lifestyle. The brand has quickly grown in popularity, collaborating with high-profile companies like Malin + Goetz and StockX, and has gained notoriety, with celebrities such as Rio Ferdinand and Owen Farrell wearing signature pieces. Rooted in Luke and Diego's shared experiences of London, Almost Home reflects their “love-hate” relationship with the city and their appreciation for the tranquillity of home – Dublin for Luke and Madrid for Diego.
